Please sub category duels from start.

I think the duels should be only between images in the same subcategory. Now you put tigers against flies, for eample. That's ridiculous. Flies should compete against other insects, in my humble opinion. Now it's more or less meaningless to submit images to the fly contest because the image score is bound to be low.

  Hi Johan, awards for category are assigned on category level, so images in same category need to duel images from different subcategories (but within same category). How would you otherwise determine which is best image in category?

  Score in contest is completely separated from score in category and one doesn't influence other. 
  
  To determine contest score, images will only duel other images in same contest (contest scores are not visible in imageduel history page). That means, that image can have category score of 140 and at the same time in specific contest (like in your case Fly contest where it will duel only other images of flies submitted to contest to determine contest score) can have contest score of 600 (this is just as example).

  I agree with Johan especially for the animal category. In the real world of photo competitions, you would never have an insect image compete against a Tiger. It should be the sub category level

  I also find it strange where a contest can have a naked woman and a child all competing for the same win, I believe if a child photo is allowed them nudes are not and vice a versa. I will happily vote for and against nudes but having children in the same contest ???
